Cleaning a toilet with a scrubber and blue plastic gloves.

I’m sure we’ve all been in this situation: You notice the toilet hasn’t been scrubbed in a while, and you know it’s time to get on cleaning. But do you clean every day? Every other day? When was the last time you cleaned your toilet anyway?

According to The How Often Should You Clean Your Toilet Quiz, there are four ways of cleaning your toilet. Does any fit your cleaning habits?

1.If the toilet gets dirty, clean it then.

2.Schedule a specific time every so often to clean the toilet.

3.Carry Lysol and a scrub brush with you at all times, to quickly clean the toilet when needed. (Note: I don’t necessarily recommend this one.)

4.Get your toilet robot to do most of the heavy work for you and only give it gentle touch-ups from time to time.(Also not recommended.)

Well if you’ve been doing number 1, that’s not bad. But number 2 seems like it might not be the best option. Number 3, well, I can see the appeal but many people wouldn’t know how to use it. Number 4 is the most appealing of them all for me. I think robots are cool so this would give more time for other things, and I could even go on vacation without worrying about my toilet! But then again, that last part sounds awfully handy if you’re actually traveling out of town and you don’t want to have to find a public restroom every now and then.

I have been doing number 4 for a while now and it works great for me. I hate using public restrooms because they are usually dirty as hell and smell like pee. So every time I go in one I have to stand there for like 10 minutes and use the toilet. With this method, I don’t have to sit there all day. But if I can’t get to a cleaner bathroom often, it wouldn’t hurt to do other cleaning methods too.

Perhaps you could alternate between using one of the other three methods every now and then, as different times call for different types of cleansers (e.g., Lysol spray on after number 3 or scrub brush after number 4)

So how often should you clean your toilet? It’s up to you! Just remember that most people use public restrooms so if your restroom is more private then your poo is probably clean.
